Thank you François for your reference to the Complaints Choir website. Only recently have I heard about this project. I think it was about one week ago (or maybe slightly longer) that Anne Bertrand sent along the web URL.

Checking into the origins of this project a bit, I was fascinated by the coincidence of when the first Complaints Choir was assembled and the timing of the beginning of the conversation with Deborah about the Lamentations project. Clearly there was something in the air! I would be interested in reading an analysis of how complaints and laments are different or similar and consequently what are the personal and cultural implications of convening public attention through song for one and the other.

While you note the link that you are making between the Complaints Choir and Why Should We Cry? Lamentations in a Winter Garden, you don’t write about how you see the projects different one from the other (if you do at all that is).

Hello!
Would you concider “complaints” as an equivalent to “Laments”. OK, I guess you see me coming but how could I avoid making a link between your project and the very interesting Complaints Choir projetc.
